[Vic] Markings history

Postby Richmeister » Thu Aug 04, 2005 11:08 pm

One for the real trainspotters... the history of Victoria Police markings post-introduction of the national marking scheme.

2000 (VX Commodore): Smaller 'Police' decal on rear
2001 (AUIII Falcon / VXII Commodore): Lighter blue used for all markings
2002 (BA Falcon / VY Commodore): Victoria Police logo added to doors, orange stipes added to TMU vehicles
2004 (BAII Falcon / VZ Commodore): 'Phone' logo turned upside down

There's probably more, but they're the ones I've noticed. I'm off to go sit in a corner and wonder just WHY I noticed them...

2005 (???): Larger markings on solos
2006 (VZ Commodore with 6 litre Gen IV): 'Police' decal on bonnet mirrored on TMU vehicles and solos

When did the word "police" change from "POLICE" to Police"? I know it used to scare me when it was all capitol letters.

The ED Falcon was around 1993. I know because I bought one at the time. Maybe mine was the end of that series :?:
